New! PMBPA is organizing a panel discussion on how to look for an academic job after a postdoc and what does the search committee look for in a successful candidate. More details and the flyer can be found here.
Did you know that the University of California is on a 3 year plan to raise the minimum salary for postdocs to NIH recommended levels? It started in October 2007, raising the minimum postdoc salary at UC Berkeley to $34,752. Business Cards

AWIS Chapter Meeting
East Bay Association for Women in Science will be holding their next Chapter Meeting on July 24th. The topic is "WORK and FAMILY: ACHIEVING BALANCE". The discussion will cover: new UC-wide family friendly policies, taking a break from work to raise children, and how to successfully re-enter the work force. See the BPA website where we'll be posting more information soon!

Did you know that postdocs have full (and free) access to the UC Berkeley Career Center? Take advantage of this great resource! They offer job listings, workshops, career fairs, and even one-on-one counseling. To sign up for services, go to http://career.berkeley.edu/PhDs/Postdocs.stm, fill out the form and bring it in with a copy of your Cal ID.
Monthly Happy Hour!
Come out and meet some postdocs from other departments. Our next postdoc happy hour is Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Free pizza, beer, soda, and lots of good company. We'll be in front of Pat Brown's from 6-7 pm. Can't make it that early? Come join us at 7:30 pm at Jupiter. Postdoc happy hour will be the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm, come join us!
